The purpose of this activity is to familiarize you with the workings and services of a convention and visitors bureau and to understand what is unique about a particular city as a destination.
Explore two competitive city destinations, in your state or country. Compare and contrast the CVB websites and answer the questions below. Students should be answering the questions as if they were interested in visiting the destination.
The following questions must be addressed in the review:
1.What is the image and personality the city projects to its visitors for both business and pleasure?
2.Describe the city’s brand campaign.
3.What additional services does the CVB provide?
4.What are some of the obstacles/challenges the city may have to overcome?
5.Based on the website does it encourage or discourage your group from visiting the destination?
6.Does the CVB use Facebook or Twitter? Does this matter to your group?
7.Evaluate their Facebook or Twitter feeds? Are they of interest?
