Write your Thesis either as a statement to be supported or a question to be answered by your research. Then explain what you expect to discover and write about in your proposal (in about one page). If you have done the thinking and some preliminary document search, you should be close to the conclusions you will come to. However, the research question (thesis) focuses the research you will do, expecting to learn; thus, your final paper may well be at least slightly different from your assumptions. NOTE: If you chose a topic you really wish to learn something about, you’ll be inspired to explore and discover.
The topic you choose can be a person, an event, or a theme, just so long as it comes within the limits of the History of Women in America between 1870 and the start of the 21st century.
